More Live Music

Nashville is a great place to see live music in intimate settings at an affordable price.  A person could go to a show every night.  In a previous blog, I shared about Charlie Worsham’s residency at the Basement East this past July.
There is another residency that started in July at Analog in the Hutton Hotel.  This residency is hosted by Halfway to Hazard on the first Tuesday of the month.  I went in July and then again in August.  There is another scheduled for September 4th, doors at 6:00 pm and the show is at 6:30 pm.  The cost is $5.00. If you’re in Nashville, make sure you go.  You won’t be sorry.
The first show the guest were Chris Young, Radio Romance, Ira Dean, and Jon Stone. This month along with Halfway to Hazard was Ray Scott, Randy Houser, and Jordan Rager. There are also artists painting during the show.  I don’t know who the guest will be next month but do know that they will be good. Halfway to Hazard is great on their own and should be on the radio more.  They could do the show on their own but since they invite their talented friends you get even more.
At next month’s show, they will auction off a painting that was started during the August show.  I went and painted some of it.  The money will go to the Troy Gentry Foundation, which has been set up by his wife to honor him.  If you don’t know Troy Gentry was ½ of the great duo Montgomery Gentry.  He died in a helicopter crash this past year.  Chad and Dave (Halfway to Hazard are good friends of Troy and Eddie). The first show they did in July Halfway to Hazard took a moment to honor Troy and had his wife share the news about the Troy Gentry Foundation being created.
The Analog is a new venue and very nice.  We have been upstairs both times and the sound and view as good.  They have several other shows including Lee Brice and others. A hint for parking if you park on 18th Avenue N (to the East of the Hutton) or Hayes Street (behind the Hutton Hotel).  When entering the Hutton Hotel go left and up the stairs to the Analog.  To find who will be performing and to purchase tickets go to www.huttonhotel.com and select eat and drink then select Analog.
If you’re not in Nashville during one of these residencies, but in town another time there are some other options for great music with a mix of those you have heard of and those you have not.  There are weekly shows that are free Whiskey Jam on Monday nights at Winner’s Bar and on Tuesday night the Revival at the Tin Roof on Demonbreun Street.  Both start at 8 pm.  I have been to both and have enjoyed them. The Revival is more of a songwriter round, where Whiskey Jam the performers play a few songs as a concert If you follow them on twitter the scheduled artist is posted weekly (@WhiskeyJam and @REVIVAL615). Until the next adventure.
