The Champ Burger

If you live in the Quad-Cities area then you need to go to the Maple Street Grille in Orion, Illinois.  If you watch Channel 8 news you might have seen the segment about Orion’s Logan Lee and how the owner of the Maple Street Grille, asked Logan to create a signature burger.  The burger is ½ pound Angus beef with American and Provolone cheese, hickory-smoked bacon, Maple Street’s signature candied bacon, Huli Huli inspired pulled pork, house-made Huli Huli sauce on a toasted sesame seed bun per the menu description.  I thought it sounded delicious.
So after the track meet, I went and got Russell and Mom and Dad joined us.  I ordered the Champ and so did Russell, minus the cheese. Hard to believe he doesn’t like cheese.  Dad created his own burger as he likes the classic style burger best. Mom had the Carolina which is pulled pork.  It did take a while to get our food as they were busy, but it was worth the wait. The Champ burger didn’t disappoint the candied bacon and Huli Huli sauce gave it a sweetness and the cheese was a good blend.  Russell really liked it also. Dad and Mom liked their choices also. The Carolina was served like they do it in the South with coleslaw on top and not smothered in bbq sauce. All the meals came with a choice of a side beer battered fries, tater tots or coleslaw.  We all had the fries and they were good. The Champ is the burger of the month and worth the drive to Orion. Make sure your hungry because it is a lot of food.
For those who don’t know Logan, he is a 3 sport athlete at Orion High School.  He is a 2-time state champion in wrestling, on the track and football teams. Logan will be playing football next year at the University of Iowa.  Go Hawks!
Another note the Maple Street Grille is where the Factory Restaurant used to be.  They are located at 303 10th Ave., Orion.
